Job Description

The Department of Biology at the University of Regina invites applications for a full-time, 3-year term position in Microbiology. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an expected start date of July 1, 2021.

Candidates whose research focuses on any aspect of microbiology are invited to apply, although preference will be given to those with a focus on microbial ecology or environmental microbiology. We are also interested in candidates who use -omics (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and/or metabolomics) or meta-omics approaches in their research.

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in Biology or a related discipline, a record of research excellence, strong communication skills, and a commitment to working effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an externally- funded research program, and be committed to teaching excellence at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The candidate will be expected to teach two undergraduate courses: Microbial Diversity and Cell Function, and Microbes and Society.
