General Information

Université Laval is a privileged living environment in the heart of Quebec City. It is a large and comprehensive university recognized for its culture of excellence in teaching and research.

The Department of Plant Science comprises 22 professors studying various fields related to crop production and plant science. They contribute to the training of more than 400 undergraduate students in agronomy and supervise over 75 graduate students enrolled in the Plant Biology graduate program.

Job description

In collaboration with professors of the Department of Plant Science, the selected candidate will teach courses in French to undergraduate, graduate and continuing education students, and will supervise M. Sc. and Ph. D. students in the area of plant microbiology/microbiome. The position further requires to develop high quality teaching and research programs in the field. The successful candidate will assume a fair share of the collective responsibilities of the department.

Selection criteria

  1. Hold a Ph.D. in a field related to microbiology, preferably with an application to agricultural crops;
  2. Possess the necessary skills and experience to develop and offer teaching in French to undergraduate and graduate students in microbiology in the context of agronomic training (B. Sc. Agronomy; M. Sc. and Ph. D. Plant Biology);
  3. Demonstrate an ability to design and implement an innovative scientific research program in the field of plant microbiology/microbiome;
  4. Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and a genuine interest in teaching. Experience in teaching at the university level would be an asset;
  5. Demonstrate an interest in the problems and issues in microbiology and microbial populations and their genomes in the context of growing needs in this field in agriculture;

Hiring and Treatment

As per the current collective agreement. This is a tenure track position.
