Job Description

 Review of applications will begin Jan 1, 2023

Postdoctoral position available in the laboratory of Dr. Jackie Goordial, held in the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of Guelph. The position will be to investigate the microbial ecology of aerosols globally in an interdisciplinary, and international team. The position is fully funded through a Human Frontiers of Sciences Program grant, and the researcher would work closely with collaborators Dr. James Bradley (Queen Mary University), Dr. Chris Greening (Monash University), and Dr. Elizabeth Trembath-Reichert (Arizona State University). The postdoctoral researcher will have many opportunities to present research at conferences, and to mentor students if desired.

The project will be interdisciplinary, incorporating microbial ‘omics, incubations studies, and single cell sorting and sequencing.  There will be ample opportunities for field work, including in the Canadian Arctic as part of this research program. 

 




Application Instructions

Postdoctoral researchers interested in the position should have a PhD and prior experience in biogeochemistry, microbial ecology, microbiology, cell and molecular biology and bioinformatics. In particular, prior experience with handling low biomass samples, and a desire to be involved with field work would be considered an asset.
