Steve Hallam - Member of the Canadian Society of Microbiologists selected as Leopold Leadership Fellow
Dr. Steven Hallam, an associate professor and Canada Research Chair in Environmental Genomics in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of British Columbia and a member of the Canadian Society of Microbiologists, has been selected as a Leopold Leadership Fellow for 2015.
Dr. Hallam is among the 20 mid-career academic environmental researchers named as fellows this year. The group was selected through a highly competitive process on the basis of their exceptional research qualifications, demonstrated leadership ability, and strong interest in sharing their knowledge beyond traditional academic audiences. The fellows will take part in intensive leadership training designed to hone their skills in engaging with leaders in the public and private sectors who face complex decisions about sustainability and the environment. They also become part of a network of past fellows and program advisors who are working with leaders, both within and outside academe, to solve society’s most pressing environmental and sustainability challenges.
