SAVE THE DATES- CSM Events, June 2020

To say that we have seen huge changes in our daily activities over the last few weeks would be an understatement. On-line teaching, research lab shutdowns and financial stresses have presented ongoing challenges, but I hope you have found some positives. Personally, I have observed the amazing resilience of our students and postdocs, and the willingness of our Canadian microbiology community to step up and support on-line thesis defences, seminars and conferences. Although we have cancelled our in-person conference for this summer, I am delighted to let you know about several important CSM events that will be taking place in June 2020.
June 23, 1:00 PM EDT - Thermo Fisher Scientific Award Lecture
June 24, 1:00 PM EDT - Armand-Frappier Outstanding Student Award Lecture
June 25, 1:00 PM EDT - CSM Murray Award Lecture followed by the CSM Annual General Meeting
We are busy making arrangements for the delivery of these events on-line and will be updating with specifics as plans solidify. For now, please save the dates.
The award nomination deadline for these awards, as well as the CSM Undergraduate, and CSM Ambassador Awards, is May 15. See the CSM Awards webpage for more information. Many thanks to our award sponsors for their continued support of these recognitions.
The strength of our Society is its members. If you have not already renewed your membership for 2020, please consider taking advantage of our two-year renewal option. This will ensure your uninterrupted access to all the benefits of membership, and will contribute to maintaining a vibrant CSM.
Wash your hands and take care of each other,
Sincerely,
Janet E. Hill, Ph.D.
CSM President
